Jermaine was born and raised in the tough streets of Liberty City, Miami, FL. His organizing training and political development began in 2006 when he joined the membership of Power U. He was hired to the staff of Power U in 2007 after demonstrating a deep commitment to social change for communities of color. Jermaine played a key role in Power U’s organizing battles to defend Overtown from developers and the threat of gentrification. Since 2012, Jermaine has served as a youth organizer with Power U. In this role he brings to bare his experience and consciousness to develop the leadership of young people so that they can transform their schools and communities.
