Leadership Transition at Power U

Organizer and Executive Director of Power U. Beginning this June, Ruth will be dedicating her time to birth justice work, expanding her role as a doula. Hashim will be moving out of state to join his partner, Tiffany, who is embarking on an exciting new career opportunity. We are proud of the impact our collective leadership has had on Power U. Here are some of the organizational accomplishments that have been achieved during our tenure:

As these achievements attest, Power U is the strongest it’s been in years. That is why, as we step into this transition, we are confident that this organization is poised to grow even stronger in the years ahead.  Power U will continue to fight for liberation and center the experiences of Black people. This organization will uplift #BlackGirlsMIA, demand that our public schools #EndWarOnYouth and implement #RestorativeJustice, and make sure that we use our collective voices to scream #SayHerName and #BlackLivesMatter.

We know there is important work to be done. So our staff, board, and member leaders are working diligently to make this leadership transition as smooth as possible. And though we are leaving our current roles, our commitment to this movement is lifelong and Power U will always hold a central place in our hearts.

For the sake of Love and Liberation,

Ruth and Hashim
