Transportation Driver

We are currently seeking a responsible and reliable van driver to transport PowerU members or individuals on scheduled routes and ensure the safety of the passengers.

Responsibilities include:

  • Will directly report to the Operations Coordinator for all matters related to transportation.
  • Ensure the safety of all passengers
  • Observe and abide by all safety and traffic rules
  • Maintain order among the passengers while they are in the vehicle
  • Follow the planned route and schedule for the pick-up and drop-off points
  • Arrive at pick-up and drop-off points in a timely manner
  • Regularly check and report vehicle safety (tires, brakes, signals, mechanical equipment, etc.) before and after each trip
  • Monitor and report fuel consumption
  • Report and respond to delays, accidents, and emergencies
  • Maintain a clean vehicle; no eating and drinking in the van

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is required to drive a vehicle for extended periods of time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include depth perception. The employee is required to sit for periods of time, drive a vehicle, and use a computer.

Requirements include:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license (A CDL is not needed, but a plus)
  • Clean driving record (5 years)
  • Minimum 2 years previous experience interacting/working with youth or experience driving in a similar role (driving children, driving a school bus or private van).
  • Maintain positive interaction with youth both in and outside of the bus/van environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must also be available to drive for scheduled community-based events

Job Type: 12 – 18 hrs per week

Pay: $18/ per hour

COVID-19 considerations:
Currently, masks are required when youth/staff are in the building or in a vehicle. Staff will be required to take the Rapid test twice a week before each route/meeting.
